In what way do media and advertising work together?

Media and advertising work together because without advertising the media would go downhill. With advertising, in commercials or magazines, the ads are what sponsor the TV show or magazine itself. Without them, magazines or TV shows wouldn’t make as much money because they wouldn’t be getting that money from their sponsors.
Also, without media, advertising would not be so successful. First of all, advertising companies advertise certain thing that relate or are in the media. In addition to that, advertising needs media in order to have their audience see and acknowledge their ads so that they make money in consumers buying their products. Without the media, advertising would not be as successful and without advertising, media would be less successful also. They work together to stay successful and significantly rely on each other to bring in consumers and make money.

Public relation firms work toward making creative, educational, or even comical advertisements for commercials, magazines, internet sites, and more. Such advertisements are used as a persuasive tool in the communications world. Without PR there would be no media. Advertisements, sponsors, etc. are what help produce magazines, newspapers, TV shows, and more. PR is a persuasive tool because even if we don’t realize it, there are subliminal messages in such advertisements that make us drawn to certain ads and products. Commercials are a form of advertising and PR that are endured to persuading an audience. Certain styles of persuasion in the media are used as tools to persuade an audience to buy a product, join an organization, visit a location, and more. PR is the most popular and known persuasive tool or chain of companies that is used in the media today. Without each other, PR and advertisement companies would never be able to stay in business or be successful. They rely on each other.

            Public relations have been used as a persuasive tool in communication for a long time.  Companies use public relations to make their companies more appealing in the public eye.  Often times, companies hire a public relations person to release positive information about the company in hopes to increase sales as well as make a good name for themselves in the world.  Public relations are used as a persuasive tool in communications because they are very helpful to companies who have recently gone through a scandal.  Companies that need some good PR often hire people to release public information about them in order to appeal to the public once again.
            Companies that need help with specific projects or problems often go to public relations agencies for help.  Many of these businesses will take on projects anywhere in the world, which proves beneficial to many global companies.  The people who work in public relations need to accomplish steps in order to win the loyalty of companies:  They need to identify and evaluate companies’ existing relationships and make sure they continue a strong bond with each relationship; this means that they need to design policies to improve the relationships.  They also need to implement the policies, which means they need to follow through and make the necessary personal connections in order to build a stronger relationship with the people who affect their company.  Overall, public relations use the media as tools to accomplish its goals.  Public relations people are all about making the company sound and appear well-developed in hopes to attract the public to these certain companies.

Humans have not just began to enjoy entertainment over the past few decades with the invention of mass media technology. Our species has been using entertainment ever since prehistoric times, dating back to even before our written history. We have come a long way since the paintings on cave walls and the stories around the campfire of the early humans, but the core categories of entertainment remain the same today as they were back then: storytelling and music. The four main types of entertainment that have survived from the ancient civilazations such as Greece into current day are music, literature, sports, and sex. Mass media technology has had an enormous effect on entertainment because it has allowed entertainment to reach mass audiences. Before the invention of movies or television, the only way to see performances was to go to a play, and obviously the majority of people did not have this luxury. I think that one of the most positive effects of mass media technology on entertainment has been that it brings people together and unifies our countries and others. Everyone in our countries has seen certain classic movies, we all know certain popular songs and artists, and most of us are fans of certain sports team. With mass media technology, entertainment is so easily accesible that people can enjoy it whenever they want, and with movies on demand and music sites like itunes, they can be entertained in their own home by whatever it is that they want to see or hear. In average U.S homes, the television is on seven hours a day. This shows that with the development of mass media technology entertainment has gone from a rare luxury, to something we are exposed to for most of our day. This is very convenient for everyone, but in my opinion seeing a movie has become something to do at home if you are tired or bored, whereas when they were first invented going to the movies was a treat, probably making it alot more enjoyable. As new mass media technology continues to develop entertainment will become even more easily accessible than it already is, which will have both positive and negative effects on society and entertainment.

Public relations specialists are found in nearly every company. Their job is to establish relationships with other organizations or groups of people. They often work with high management positions and help implement the most beneficial relationships for their company. Mass media is the channel through which public relations functions.
PR works closely with the advertising industry, as well. Working with advertisements is where the persuasion comes into play. They use the mass media to promote their company to society and other industries, as well. Their goal is to have as many people aware of the organization as possible. Advertisements are all about persuasion and propaganda, so when people in the public relations field dip into ads, there's no doubt that coaxing will be a part of that, as well.
Ivy Lee, a public relations pioneer, nearly started the persuasive aspect of PR. He vowed to be honest and open with the information he provided. In the end, public relation's main goal is to establish long-lasting relationships with helpful companies, but persuasion plays a big role in this field, as well.

Some include lobbying on "public policy and providing advocacy on organizational and public interests",and protecting public figures from scandals. Public relations main objective is to help address how news media reports issues. By taking this initiative they can react quickly when a troublesome issue takes place. An example of this reaction would be to examine a crisis and react quickly by eliminating all information that is fabricated. By doing this a company or person can be protected from further damage.

We have seen it countless times in presidential campaigns or protest for political causes such as social issues or even war. A well-known example is Woodrow Wilson’s PR committee campaigning against anti-WWI feelings.

Public relations is a management tool for leaders in business, government, and other institutions to establish beneficial relationships with other institutions or groups. The job of public relations people is to recommend policies to top management to make these relationships work better. PR often uses the media as a tool to accomplish it’s goals, which is why it is such a persuasive tool in communications. The influence of PR on the media is extensive. Half of the news in newspapers is statements from organizations that want something in the paper. The same goes for radio and television. Ivy Lee, a young New York publicist, vowed to be accurate in everything he said and provide whatever verification anyone requested. With that openness, credibility is established, therefore making PR very persuasive. When Woodrow Wilson was concerned about anti-WW1 sentiment, he asked a PR committee, the Creel Committee, to crank out news, posters, speakers, and many other forms of propaganda which worked in making the war a very popular cause. Everyone was united on that front of democracy that some people even bought Liberty Bonds. Clearly, PR is very persuasive in communications.

Since the beginning of time, people have been entertaining themselves. When they are not eating, working, or simply breathing, they find ways to keep themselves busy and happy. Whether it was the cavemen making fire or the founding fathers in the 1700s doing whatever they did for fun, people are always trying to find ways to be entertained. As technology has developed, so has the entertainment industry. Newspapers, TV, and radio were around when my parents were growing up. Conversing with others about the latest news or radio stories was definitely a source of entertainment.

Now a days, it is very different. People don’t converse as much. They are e-mailing or texting on their cell phones and computers. People can’t spark conversations on the RIPTA with the person next to them because they have earbuds in their ears with their iPod blasting. It doesn’t matter if you are home or out, internet access is always available on your phone or iPad. The iPad is a traveling computer. Technology is something we can’t get away from. People are entertained by technology in today’s world, not by nature or baking.

Media and advertising work together because the media is dependent on advertising financially. Advertising is where media companies acquire the money to produce the various services that they offer. Advertising also helps promote the media through their messages as well. Advertising is an influential tool that can manipulate people into buying certain items over another through brand naming. Advertising's biggest job is not creating ads, but supporting the other types of media by buying ad space in either print, television, movies, or online. Without the money spent by advertisers these media companies would not have the money to produce all of their various products. Advertising allows for other media to continue to function. As long as the other types of media are functioning advertising will still exist. Media is as dependent on advertising as advertising is dependent on media.

Advertising is influential mainly due to the repetitiveness of the ads advertisers create. The amount of success of an ad is what makes it influential. When people buy certain products it is because of the ad that was produced to support it. Advertisers influence people to buy certain products through their ads. They have created many techniques to differentiate between the different ads. One of the most popular differences that they have created are the brand names. Most people buy a product because of a brand name, a brand name usually has more advertising one for it. The popularity of an item is what will usually have people buy it.

Advertising is an influential tool that is used throughout society today. People all over the United States are affected by advertising whether they realize it or not. Advertisers are an important part of this country because the advertisements have a very large influence over the American public.

Mass media technology has changed the way audiences are entertained because they bring a variety of different mediums that give people the option to view content in whichever way they desire.  People are constantly entertained because the media has now become portable; this means that people have access to news all the time.  Society has become dependent on the mass media as a source of information; sometimes when something important happens, people receive text messages or phone calls to inform them.  Technology in the media has made entertainment more present in people’s lives.

The internet has helped entertain audiences in both positive and negative ways.  The internet provides access to all information, both important and unimportant.  People are able to post their feelings, beliefs, opinions, and stories for the world to see.  Sometimes, we browse through entertaining websites, such as game sites, blogs, and video sites.  Although the internet has become a great form of entertainment, it has also taken away from other offline entertainment.  Nowadays, children want to sit inside and watch the television and browse the internet instead of playing outside.  Media technology has become everyone’s main source of entertainment; media technology is addicting and society is becoming more dependent on it every day.  Mass media technology has changed the way audiences are entertained through its easy access to just about any content one may desire.
