How does mass media reflect a political system globally?

In our day and age, mass media is a major player in the political system. From news coverage to tweet updates, anyone can be in the know if they so choose.
When election time rolls around, there will undoubtedly be numerous repetitive ads on the main stations. Candidates reach out to the general public through forms that they know are guaranteed to have viewers.
Social networking is also a growing part in the political world. You can follow the President and other major politicians on Twitter and see what their latest policies or updates are. Also, Facebook has become a tool for networking and following the latest news and you can often find political updates there, as well.
Overall, the mass media reflects the political system everyday. Whether it be television, Internet, or radio, they are always being expressed in some form.
