How has Mass Media technology changed the way audiences are entertained?

Mass media technology has changed the way audiences are entertained for many reasons. This began in the fifteenth century, during the Age of Mass Communication when messages could be mass-produced to reach audiences of unprecedented sizes. For that, we can say that the impact of the entertainment content of today’s mass media is hard to measure. People are being entertained more than ever, which can be supported by the fact that the media surrounds us in every way possible. Examples of advancements that have made this transition possible are feedback and instant replays. Authentic performance, for instance, provides more interaction between performers and the audience. What this means is that each individual can leave with a different experience or thoughts on a certain performance, affecting each individual differently. As far as technology goes, when audio and film technology was merged together, it created many more options for storytelling. Directors were given more possibilities when wide screens were introduced. When more options are available for moviemakers, it greatly impacts (in a positive way) that the way the audience is entertained. Another way in which technology has changed the way audiences are entertained is through instant replays during sports games. This added a dimension that in-stadium fans could not experience. After this, cameras were introduced, allowing viewers to see what referees see on the field. Moreover, putting microphones on referees and coaches made the experience that much more realistic. It makes the audience feel as though they are there in person, greatly increasing their level of entertainment and the overall experience they gain.
