Technology Dependence

Mass Communication is heavily dependent on technology, as is everything else in todays society. Interpersonal communication has lessened dramatically within the last ten to twenty years. Technology has recently become a necessity rather than a want or desire. There are multiple categories of technology each used for multiple purposes. Printing technology is used for media newspapers and magazine industries and is an overgrowing trend. Chemical technology is used for photography and movies which are a large source of entertainment in todays society and have been in the history of the Untied States. Electronic technology has gone from sound recording to radios and television and is used by the majority of the people in the world. Digital technology portrays the most mass media messages because everything is digital, for example web pages and computers.

Although technology has been an overgrowing trend and has created new inventions and upbringings, it is unfortunate when looking at a communication point of view. Rather than writing letters and having face to face conversations with people, people are constantly using their technological gadgets, for example cell phones and computers. It is not often today to have a conversation with someone without them testing or receiving a phone call. Unfortunately, although technology is outstanding in society, it has been an extreme distraction to every day life.
