How has conglomeration changed the movie and television industry?

Movies and television were once rivals. However, they saw a connection between themselves that allowed them to converge. If movies and television stations did not merge together, one of these industries would be severely hurting. Hollywood carried most of the popularity and profitability. The growth of television threatened this aspect of Hollywood. Ticket sales plummeted while television sales skyrocketed. Televisions were more convenient so more households began to purchase them. Movie industries sought out a new way to get their viewers back. The convergence was not a sudden process, but it did become a win-win for both medias.

Today, we can see some of these convergences in the production of movies and television shows. Some of the most popular are NBC universal, Disney-ABC, and 20th century fox. This melding was not a bad thing for the industries. Many time movies are made into television series and vice versa. If the movie was a hit, it becomes a type of promotion for a television series. Instead of becoming eternal enemies, the industries are now working together to help maximize profits.
