Gatekeepers are media people who influence media messages that are being delivered to the public. The job of a gatekeeper is to exercise news judgment and decide what stories best deserve to be told on the air. The gatekeepers help decide what is newsworthy and what isn't. The gatekeepers hold an important job in the world of news and media because without them their wouldn't be people to decide what did and didn't air. The news would go on for hours because there wouldn't be a filter to help condense all the news stories that happen in a day.
Investigative reporting helps lead new public reforms. Through investigative reporting injustice's done in the government are revealed to the public. Once these injustices are revealed to the public, usually people try to change these injustices. Investigative reporting helps people to realize what is really going on in the world around them. It helps jump start reforms in society to improve in just situations. Journalists took it upon themselves to help improve society when the government wouldn't do anything to improve the problems.
