How is public relations used as a persuasive tool in communications?

Public relation is a management tool to establish beneficial relationships. Public relations identify existing relationships, evaluate those relationships, design policies to improve relationships, and implement policies. Those who work in public relations need to communication to a large audience. They do this through mass mediums like television, newspapers, and Internet. A young publicist, Ivy Lee, portrayed that public relations is a persuasive tool in communications. Through his openness and upbeat angle, he was able to get into coal miner’s strike strategy meetings and give the mass audience a different view on the miner’s position. Lee promised to be accurate in everything he said and promised to provide verification to anyone who requested. Those who work in the field of public relations have to persuade the mass audience. Those who work in the field of public relations must use propaganda to get the audience’s attention and persuade their views. They must gain popular support and trust first and then promote their cause. Many lobbyists follow along with this notion.
