How Has Mass Media Technology Changed the Way Audiences are Entertained?

I think that technology in mass media has completely transformed the way audiences are now entertained. Entertainment has been around for as long as we have. It started out with human's having to find a way to entertain themselves with their own singing for music, or word of mouth for news.

Nowadays, society is a lot more dependent on everyone else for their entertainment. We can go sit in a movie theater and watch other people act. We can turn on the radio and listen to other people sing or talk. We can turn on the TV and watch the "reality" of other people. We are a lot less reliant on ourselves, seeing as it's so easy to resort to these means.

Another reason I think mass media is such a popular choice for entertainment is because it's very easy to access. Prior to this technology, it wasn't as easy as flipping on the television or driving to the movie theater. The fact that it's as simple as switch and most people have these options (or at least one of them) practically at their finger tips makes it all the more beneficial.

Overall, I think the development of technology in mass media has skyrocketed and, in turn, has completely changed the way audiences are entertained. Who knows the different ways we'll be entertained 5,10, or even 15 years from now.
