How Have Blogs and the Internet Changed the Way News is Reported?

Internet by itself has changed many things about our current society. It is an easy source to search for information, communicate with others, and provide entertainment. It has changed the way news can be reported because users can access it at anytime. New reports used to be only on at certain times where people would tune in to listen to broadcasters. But, now anyone can search for certain topics or browse to their local new website and most likely find almost all of the stories that were reported during the show.
Blogging is also a new phenomenon that has changed the way news is reported. Blogs are usually informal and personal to the person or companies that they belong to. People can write whatever they want in their blogs. It's easy to create news or get rumors circulating by providing the World Wide Web with inaccurate information. In addition, there are also sites such as perezhilton.com that could be considered blogs. This specific site is a well-known celebrity gossip site. There are many avid readers that would believe any information posted there in a second.
Overall, I think that the Internet has increased the availability of news. But, blogs make it much more difficult to ensure credibility of the source.
