How Has Conglomeration Changed the Movie and Television Industry?

Conglomerations are defined as companies being brought into common ownership but remaining distinct entities. Over the years, the amount of conglomerations in the movie and television industries have sky rocketed.
Prior to conglomerations, ABC, NBC and CBS were the Big Three of the television industry. But, once companies merged together, the major television conglomerates became Disney, News Corp., Time Warner, Viacom and NBC. Disney is such a media conglomerate that it has made it's way to being one of the major companies in the movie industry, as well as Paramount and Columbia.
Although conglomerations cause the companies to have an immense amount of power, they are definitely beneficial to the industries. The combination of the groups bring in much more revenue in addition to an increase in awareness of their company to society. With many conglomerations formed, I don't think they're leaving any time soon.
