Conglomeration has changed the movie and television industry because it has united companies and has made them stronger. When companies merge, they combine their profits, making it easier to spend more money on their products.
The movie and television industries have grown stronger as a result of conglomeration; because these industries have the ability to work together, many companies produce both movies and TV shows based off the other one. For example, the movie Clueless was so successful that a television program, also titled Clueless, followed it, creating a franchise. Disney is a major company that builds an empire around their television shows. Disney’s Hannah Montana is the most famous program to ever air on Disney, as well as the longest-running show. Because of its popularity, Disney took HM’s lead actress, Miley Cyrus, and made her perform live, while also producing products with the HM name on them, such as bedding, backpacks, soap, and Barbie dolls. Time Warner is another great example of a conglomeration. Time and Warner formed in 1989, and took over the movie industry. Another conglomeration is Warner and Paramount’s TV network, the CW.
Overall, conglomerations have improved the movie and television industry because they produce more profits. People want to see more of their favorite movies and when television shows are based off of popular programs, the demand is high. Also, when people enjoy certain television shows, they want to see studios produce movies based on them. Conglomerations help companies work together to achieve high profits as well as audience satisfaction.
