How has conglomeration changed the movie and television industry?

Conglomeration has changed the movie and television industry by making the industry split up by main corporations. These corporations are Paramount, Disney, Columbia, 20th Century Fox, Universal and Warner’s. These six studios all take part in producing and distributing movies. The studio industry started off as smaller companies that "enmeshed with the television industry through corporate connections" (156). The U.S. studio industry in the 1920s was run by a few major companies that controlled everything. Studios went by a studio system which is when major studios controlled all aspects of the movie industry. The companies had oligarchic control unlike today where all studies are apart of a conglomerate.
