How has Conglomeration changed the Movie and Television Industry?

Motion Media was for a very long time, dominated by Hollywood Studios. Hollywood films were the nation’s number one entertainment. Radio pioneer, David Sarnoff, created the first television network and it was a huge success. Every American wanted to own a Television and tune into his or her favorite program when they came home from work. It was a lot easier and more convenient then going to a movie theater to watch one movie. Television rivaled the Hollywood film industry. However, as we will see, the movie and television industries will soon come together under the big Motion Media conglomerates.

Examples of these conglomerates are Disney’s ABC, 20th Century Fox and NBC universal. These corporations work both in the Film and Television industries. They produce hit movies that bring millions at the Box Office and also attract millions of viewers to watch their hit TV series. This blend of the two industries has definitely worked in favor of the conglomerates and has increased their profits drastically. On the other hand, people can argue that conglomeration is a negative business because it gives too much power and influence to few companies over large territories and different generations.
