It was 1996 when what Ronald Reagan said, "get government off the backs of business" came true (134). Deregulation finally started appearing in the United States radio broadcasts and recording industries. With the telecommunications act, radio stations were allowed to own more than just one station, enabling them to increase their income. By owning more than one station, they could have all different types of broadcasts such as music, talk shows, news etc. Many people supported this because it allowed them to listen to their favorite stations and be able to listen to a similar style station but with different audio. This changed radio and recording industries because many of the smaller stations/ businesses died out and it allowed for major ones to shine.
